Storm Report for the Tacoma Court
The Tacoma Bankruptcy Court
does occasionally cancel the court hearings if the road conditions are
very bad. Click the link above to go to the court site and check to see
if the Court is currently open.
Once your bankruptcy case is filed, the Bankruptcy Court will set a time and date for your bankruptcy hearing. The courts set these hearings and times and it is not normally possible to change the date and time of the hearing. The hearings take place mainly on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. You must appear at the hearing and an attorney from the firm will be there with you. These hearings often take only a few minutes. You will need to bring along proof of your identity and proof of your Social Security number. A driver license and a Social Security card is the usual formula, but a W2 or letter from the Social Security Administration can also be used to confirm a Social Security number.
To get to the Bankruptcy Court from Olympia, head north on I5, then:
- Take Exit 133 City Center onto I-705 North and drive about 2 miles on I-705 and watch for the South 21st Street Exit
- Take the South 21st Street Exit/Port of Tacoma exit and follow the signs to South 21st Street, this should be about 1/4 mile
- Bear left on 21st Street and move to the right lane as you cross the railroad tracks
- Turn right on Pacific Avenue and look for the large brick building with a dome. That is the US Bankruptcy Court, also known as Union Station.
